Kazuo Ishiguro has a new novel out, The Buried Giant. It took him ten years to write it.
In this interview with the Telegraph, he talks about writing, and his early years. And I love that he says that he has two novels in a drawer that represented his early attempts at writing.
The first one is awful – really, really dull. I would not in a million years think this person had a future as a writer. Then there’s a second one, and that one is written more carefully, which makes it more embarrassing.”
